"Do you link your own sausage?" (a la "So I Married an Ax Murderer"). We had some pretty good beer and sausage at this place.

Trip to Kamakura, Japan

Kamakura is a great seaside town in Kanagawa Prefecture (where Yokohama is also located). To celebrate Yong-nam and Arata's birthdays (Feb. 10th and 17th, respectively), we took a trip south to the coast.

Kamakura was a semi-influential city before it was replaced by Kyoto. For a while during the first part of the last century both Kyoto and Kamakura hosted competing levels of power within the country. The shogunate, which was situated in Kamakura, dealt primarily with matters of security and the military. Kyoto, on the other hand, took care of most everything else.

Kamakura is well know for its gigantic statue of buddha which is about a seven minute walk from Kase station on the Enoden train line. I will post a picture of the statue later. For more information on Kamakura, click here.

These are either cats, or giraffes with feline heads attached to their butts.

Plenty of people heading the same direction we were.

Pacific Ocean as seen from the train. Lots of surfers yesterday. There was no wind, so the waves were pretty weak, but it was an absolutely gorgeous day!
